Feb. 27 Meeting

At today's meeting much was discussed. Many ideas were thrown around for events and ways to raise money for the club, so we can do even more events. Also the issue of getting to word out about the club was raised, so if you know anyone who would be interested tell them to come to photo club and get involved! The club is almost fully recognized by the University, and when it is things will be kicked into high gear with events and planning for spring quarter!

The next photo club meeting is going to be March 13th at noon fourth floor of Haskett. Come with lots of ideas for events!

Summer

hey folks, sorry about the lack of entries. summer has been quite the hectic time for me at home. anyhow, we are still trying to get the club going. what i need from you guys is some ideas as we try to push forward. issues that we're working on include (but are not limited to) funding, exposure, participation, and inclusion (just photo students or student body). so i would appreciate the feedback!

thanks, danté

Photographer of the Month

this month's photographer is Chien-Chi Chang. he is a korean photographer who is known for his documentation of the life of illegal immigrants in the section of new york known as chinatown. his work deals with alienation and connection. you can read his bio at magnum photo's web site.
his work was shown at the columbus museum of art last year from the book "the chain". the book deals with mentally ill patients (one who is stable, and the other is unstable) who are chained together as a form of therapy.

April 29th Meeting

ok. about the meeting. well anyway, a lot was discussed. jen bermudez has become the treasurer (which is quite important). here is the main issues that were brought up:
  1. the inclusion of non-majors or non-minors. we decided that it would be a good idea to include them to expose the student body to photography and the photo club.
  2. club dues. i know that college students are poor, but in order to fund various activities for the club (and to help fund the photo department as well), we thought that dues were a good idea as well.
  3. photography contests open to the student body. this will also aid in raising funds and awareness of the photo club.
there were other administrative issues that we went over, but these issues most impact the club members. there weren't a lot of us at the meeting, but hopefully we can change that!
